Summary:
During 2019, TGS contracted Shearwater Geoservices to acquire a large 3D exploration-scale seismic programme in the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil. Part of the acquisition plan was to deliver fast-track data in advance of the 2019 16 th Brazil licensing round. A high quality, 3D seismic dataset was considered essential for operators wishing to assess the potential of blocks on offer and a traditional fast-track time migration would have been inadequate for imaging the pre-salt targets. For this reason, an onboard pre-stack depth imaged volume was generated within an ambitious timescale utilising onboard processing hardware, software and personnel. This involved pre-processing (noise attenuation, de-ghosting and demultiple), building an anisotropic depth model using tomography and salt model building followed by Kirchhoff pre-stack depth migration with associated post-migration conditioning. The final volume was delivered 5 weeks after the last shot point. The effective use of collaboration tools between the vessel, onshore support and the onshore project management and quality control teams ensured the successful delivery of the volume within the desired timeframe.
