Danube basin is marginal depression of the Pannonian Basin formed in the last phase of the West Carpathian thrusting. The Inner West Carpathian units outcrop from the basement in the north. In the eastern part acid to intermediate volcanism was active during Miocene. At depth of 3 km the temperature is of 133°C in the Central part and of 110°C in the northern margin of the basin.
