I021 Imaging Salt Bottom and Flanks from Interior of a Salt Dome using a Walkaway VSP Abstract 1 This paper presents a new VSP method to image the salt-sediment boundary from a borehole drilled inside a salt dome. This method utilizes standard borehole seismic techniques such as 3-component (3C) downhole receivers and walkaway VSP (WVSP) source geometry. Under the proper conditions the salt dome flanks and the base of the salt structure can be delineated.
