P236 ACQUISITION GEOMETRY ANALYSIS BY FOCAL BEAMS IN 3D COMPLEX MEDIA E.J. VAN VELDHUIZEN and G. BLACQUIÈRE Delft University of Technology Acoustic Imaging and Sound Control PO Box 5046 NL-2600 GA The Netherlands Abstract 1 Complex structures in the subsurface like salt bodies literally form obstacles in seismic processing. Proper subsalt imaging is one of the present challenges in geophysics. The quality of a seismic image is highly dependent on the acquisition geometry. In this paper the performance of an orthogonal land geometry is examined for a 3D complex medium. For that purpose focal beam analysis is used. This method
