Summary:
Northern Iran here is considered as the continental area mostly fringing the southern Caspian basin. From NW to NE of Iran it includes Azarbaijan, the arcuate Alborz mountain belt (with the Caspian coastal plain in its northern side) and the Kopeh Dagti folded miogeocline.
