The tomographic inversion of the attenuation of reflected arrivals, through the frequency shift method is tested on a synthetic case and successively applied on the real data set acquired offshore Western Svalbard within the Hydratech EU project. The spatial variation (vertical and lateral ) of Qp are in agreement with Vp variations and with the presence of gas-hydrate and free-gas within the sediments.
