Summary:
We report on non-linear acoustic inversion of redatumed seismic data at a target horizon above an objective sequence. We have successfully recovered two media parameters, compressibility and mass density, at a resolution higher than the shortest wavelength in the data. This was possible because the inversion exploits the non-linear nature of the relationship between recorded data and the medium contrast properties. Also compressiblity variations with wavelengths longer than the longest wavelength in the data were recovered. The method is tested on synthetic data created from well-logs with added random noise. The fit between broadband predictions and actuals is outstanding for the compressibility and good for the mass density.
