Summary:
In the last ten years there has been a renewed focus on marine broadband acquisition and processing techniques, which can be applied independently or in series. In a simplistic sense the broadband acquisition solutions improve the signal to noise at the frequencies most impacted by the sea-surface ghost enabling post acquisition spectral shaping solutions. In this paper we evaluate two deghosting solutions. One which is deterministic and based solely on geometry information and one which uses a statistical approach to estimate the effective ghost response. The two techniques were evaluated on slanted and flat streamer data acquired offshore Colombia. The analysis suggests that the two techniques provide comparable results but that the statistical technique provides for some increased low frequency boosting and a flatter response through the first notch.
