High-density and wide-azimuth acquisition technologies are presently receiving much attention for their innovative use in land exploration. Through the analysis of data collected in Central Africa using applied high-density and wide-azimuth technologies, we drew the following conclusions: high-density acquisition technology can achieve a sufficient signal-to-noise ratio, which is favorable for noise suppression during data processing; high-density technology can accommodate a sufficient amount of sampling in order to record the desired signal, which is favorable for protecting the high-frequency signal and for improving the data resolution; and high-density sampling can improve the imaging results in steep-dip structures. Additionally, high-density and wide-azimuth technologies can improve the accuracy of velocity analyses, which is conducive to producing accurate velocity fields and imaging results.
