Unconventional reservoir occupies large reserves in oil and gas reservoir in China. Targeting these unconventional resources serves as an important part in oil and gas industry. Conventional reservoir prediction methods based on post stack inversion and seismic attribute can not identify the fluid in the reservoir accurately. Prestack elastic parameters inversion, preserving the information of the angle and amplitude, can be used to calculate the parameter which is sensitive to the fluid. In this paper, we use Aki&Richard approximate equation to invert for P-wave velocity, S-wave velocity and density and use these parameters to calculate elastic parameters which are sensitive to fluid. The anomalies indicating fluid can be recognized on the profile of inversion results. This method is applied to the prediction of coal bed methane (CBM) in Qinshui basin and achieve a good result.
