Summary:
There is an emerging research field that geological prior constraint and well log data are used for regularizing the full waveform inversion(FWI).We propose a way for building a high-fidelity velocity model that can be put into the FWI framework for inverting nearly perfect velocity structure. We propose to interpolate the velocity structure from multiple well logs. The interpolation is carried out using least-squares method with a structural regularization.The structural regularization is via a local-slope based linear operator. In order to obtain the geological structure of subsurface reflectors, an initial reverse time migration with a fairly smooth velocity model is used to roughly calculate the local slope of subsurface structure. We use the Marmousi velocity model to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach. Regarding the field deployment for using the proposed methodology,we suggest a seismic-oriented drilling concept for future oil&gas seismic exploration.
