In the course of the elimination of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Unit 4, there were created temporary radioactive waste disposal sites (TRWDS) and storages of radioactive waste (RW). At present, there is a need to assess the quantity and conditions of storage of RW. With this purpose the research was carried out applying methods of gamma-surveing, magnetometry and electrical resistivity tomography (ERT). It has been established that the most informative method is magnetometry, which reliably identifies the reinforced concrete walls of the storage with iron containers with RW. The efficiency of using the gamma-method is much lower due to the effect of screening and absorption of a signal by the upper covering layer of clay 1.5-2.0 m thick. ERT studies provide information on the stratigraphy of the site by electrical resistivity values. According to the results of non-invasive methods, wells were drilled, in which gamma- and neutron logging and the determination of the direction of the neutron flux in a horizontal plane were coducted. The RW conglomerations are localized by measurements of activity in wells.
