A new site of the Lower Paleolithic of Ukraine the Velykyj Sholes was opened in the territory of Transcarpathia in the course of joint implementation of the project of the Department of Archeology and Museology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the Meiji University (Tokyo) in 2014. In the years 2015-2016, a research geo-archaeological expedition was created to study the archaeological and geostrategic features of the occurrence of cultural remains. As a result of archaeological and stratigraphic studies, features of stratigraphic occurrence and distribution of archaeological remains are revealed. The magnetic surveys of archaeological material distribution sites have been carried out and the specific conditions of soil formation have been determined at the concentration sites of the archaeological material. By stratigraphic occurrence and micromorphological study of soil development, they are not younger than the Beregov time during Eopleistocene age according to the Ukrainian stratigraphic scale. The technological characteristics of the lithic assemblage of the Velykyj Sholes site fall within the Mode 1 techno-complex with wide use bipolar-on-anvil technique in Lower Pleistocene.
