Drilling industry has challenged with several problems to provide more hydrocarbons for increasing demands. During years of exploitation from hydrocarbon reservoirs different challenges have been produced for drilling wells. Additionally instability of oil market forced the drilling process to be designed and implemented cheaper than before. Hybrid drill bit technology is one of the foremost tools that can make it tangible to drill a well with lower costs. Hybrid bit is a combination of roller cone and PDC bits. More durability and steer-ability of hybrid bit makes it a problem solving and optimum tool to drill problematic zones or abrasive, interbedded and plastically behaving formations. Vibrations mitigation and torque management provide the possibilities to far-fetched targets and eliminate the limitations and non-productive times. All of the benefits make this technology as an advantageous tool which provides various technical and economic advantages. In this work two sections have been presented. The first part comes with drilling mechanistic of hybrid bit in comparison with roller cone and PDC bits. Dealing with successful hybrid bit applications in several fields in the world; second section prepares a quick review on successful filed runs and challenges which conventional drill bit could not tackle the problem.
