Summary:
Cutting re-injection operations in overburden shale formations at the Ekofisk field, has started since 1997. High fidelity time-lapse seismic data (Life of Field Seismic, LoFS) are a critical tool to monitor development of pressure around the injected area. Time-strain data in particular can provide robust pressure and fracture development information. The data also efficiently assist in quantitative pressure estimation around the injected interval. This study has implications for unconventional shale reservoirs where time-lapse seismic are employed.
