Summary:
The use of near field hydrophones (NFH) in marine seismic acquisition to measure variations in the output of the airgun is now common (Ziolkowski, 1997). These recordings have become more complex with the advent of multi-level readings in attempt to estimate the upgoing and downgoing nature of the source (Kryvohuz, 2017). In this paper we look at further extending the value of NFH data recordings, in particular we focus on their potential for shallow hazards assessment via imaging of this data. We also touch on its use for deghosting and as an input to demultiple modelling for field seismic processing. Finally, we discuss what else we may wish to use this data for in the future.
