Summary:
Herein, we describe an approach taken to reduce variations in the seismic wavelet across a shallow water (depths 3 to 20m), single P component, ocean-bottom cable data set from offshore Netherlands. The survey was acquired in 1995 and was challenging to process broadband; the data are low fold, low signal-to-noise ratio and accompanied by imperfect source, acquisition and bathymetric information. Without the benefit of the Z component for deghosting, the approach used adaptive deghosting for sources and receivers followed by water-layer multiple attenuation (source- and receiver-side) and surface-consistent deconvolution. Despite necessary assumptions and compromises, the results are shown to be relatively successful.
