Wave extrapolation can be used in seismic modelling, imaging, and full waveform inversion. Wave extrapolation can be performed based on a dispersion relation in frequency domain. While the application of orthorhombic models has become a modern standard for many seismic modeling methods, a dispersion relation that is accurate and simple enough is of many practical interests. In this study, we propose a new dispersion relation for acoustic orthorhombic media. We compare its accuracy and show its application in wave extrapolation with low-rank method.
