Based on the analysis of organic petrology and geochemistry, some factors that lead to the abnormal enrichment of heavy carbon isotopes in both freshwater and saltwater lake are discussed. It is believed that TOC, climate, water depth and lacustrine organisms will lead to significant changes in the carbon isotope composition of the sedentary organic matter.
